ഈജിപ്തിന്റെ ആദ്യ ഭൗമനിരീക്ഷണ ഉപഗ്രഹമാണ് ഈജിപ്റ്റ്സാറ്റ്-1. കെട്ടിടനിർമ്മാണം, കൃഷി എന്നീ മേഖലകൾക്കായും മരുഭൂമിവ്യാപനത്തെ തടയുന്നതിനും സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനാണ് ഈ ഉപഗ്രഹം ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്[8].
രണ്ടു സെൻസറുകളാണ് ഈ ഉപഗ്രഹത്തിനുള്ളത് (ഒരു ഇൻഫ്രാറെഡ് ഇമേജിങ് സെൻസറും ഒരു ഉന്നത റെസല്യൂഷൻ മൾട്ടി സ്പെൿട്രൽ ഇമേജറും).
ഈജിപ്തിന്റെ ശാസ്ത്രഗവേഷണങ്ങൾക്കും റിമോട്ട് സെൻസിങ് ഉപയോഗങ്ങൾക്കും വേണ്ടിയുള്ള ഉപഗ്രഹങ്ങളുടെ ശ്രേണിയിലെ ആദ്യത്തേതാണ് ഈജിപ്റ്റ്സാറ്റ്-1.
