സപുഷ്പികളിൽപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു സസ്യകുടുംബമാണ് ഇക്സോണാന്തേസീ (Ixonanthaceae). 90 മീറ്റർ ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരുന്ന കുറ്റിച്ചെടികളും മരങ്ങളും ഈ സസ്യകുടുംബത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. നാലോ അഞ്ചോ ജീനസ്സുകളിലായി ഏകദേശം 30 സ്പീഷിസുകൾ ഈ സസ്യകുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. [2] മിക്ക സ്പീഷിസുകളും വലിയ ഇലകളോടുകൂടിയ നിത്യഹരിത സസ്യങ്ങളാണ്.[3]

ഇവയുടെ ഇലകൾ ഏകാന്തരന്യാസത്തിൽ ക്രമീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതും ഞെട്ടോടുകൂടിയവയുമാണ്. ചില സ്പീഷിസുകളിൽ പത്രവൃന്തത്തിന്റെ അടിയിലായി ചെറിയ ഉപപർണ്ണങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാകാറുണ്ട്, എന്നാൽ മറ്റു ചില സ്പീഷിസുകളിൽ ഉപപർണ്ണങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാകാറില്ല.[4]
