അൽബേനിയായിലെ സ്ത്രീകൾ അൽബേനിയായിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നതോ അൽബേനിയയിൽ നിന്നുള്ളള്ളതോ ആയ യൂറോപ്യൻ സ്ത്രീകൾ ആകുന്നു. 1990ലാണ് ആദ്യത്തെ അൽബേനിയൻ വനിതാപ്രസ്ഥാനം രൂപീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. [5]അൽബേനിയയിലെ ഉത്തര ഘെഗ് പ്രദേശത്തെ സ്ത്രീകൾ യാഥാസ്ഥിതികമായ പുരുഷകേന്ദ്രീകൃത പാരമ്പര്യസമൂഹത്തിലാണ് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നത്. [6]അത്തരം യാഥാസ്ഥിതികസമൂഹത്തിൽ സ്ത്രീകളെ താഴ്ന്നനിലയിലാണ് കണക്കാക്കിയിരുന്നത്. അവർ ആണ്മേൽക്കോയ്മയിലാണ് വിശ്വസിച്ചിരുന്നത്.[7] ഘെക്ക് ഗോത്രത്തിൽ അൽബേനിയൻ സംസ്കാരം എന്നത് സ്ത്രീകളെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് 500 വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള അവരുടെ ലെക്കെ ദുക്കഗ്‌ജിനി കാനൂൺ (Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini) എന്ന നിയമത്തിൽ സ്ത്രീയുടെ പ്രധാന പങ്ക് കുട്ടികളെയും കുടുംബത്തെയും നോക്കുക എന്നതിൽ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നു.
