സതേൺ സോത്തോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സതേൺ സെസോത്തൊ എന്നൊക്കെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന സോത്തോ ഭാഷ ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയിലെ സൊതൊ-റ്റ്സ്വാനയിലെ ഭാഷയാണ്. [5][6]ലെസൊത്തോയിലെ ഔദ്യോഗികഭാഷയും അവിടത്തെ 11 ഔദ്യോഗികഭാഷകളിൽ ഒന്നുമാണ്. ഇതൊരു ബാൺടു ഭാഷയാണ്.

വർഗ്ഗീകരണം

സെസോത്തൊ ഒരു തെക്കൻ ബാൺടു ഭാഷയാണ്. നൈജർ-കോംഗൊ ഭാഷാകുടുംബത്തിൽ‌പ്പെട്ടതാണ്.

സോത്തൊ ഒരു ആദിവാസികളുടെ പേരിന്റെ ഭാഗമായ വാക്കാണ്. ഇപ്പോൾ ലെസോത്തൊയിലും ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കൻ ഇംഗ്ലിഷിലും സെസോത്തോ എന്നാണ് ഈ ഭാഷയെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വാക്ക്.
