കേരളത്തിൽ മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്നന ശുദ്ധജല മത്സ്യം ആണ് കരിമ്പാച്ചി. പെരിയാറിൽ മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഇവ ഇന്ന് വംശനാശത്തിന്റെ വക്കിലാണ്.[2]
