ഷെയ്ൽ വാതകം

ഇരുപത്തൊന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൻറെ ഇന്ധനം എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന ശിലാഫലകങ്ങൾക്കടയിലെ ഇന്ധന സ്രോതസ്സാണ് ഷെയ്ൽ. (Shale Gas). പെട്രോളിൻറെ വിപണി 2014 ജൂണിൽ ബാരലിന് 115 ഡോളറുണ്ടായിരുന്നത് വർഷാവസാനത്തോടെ 45 ഡോളറിലേക്ക് കൂപ്പ് കുത്തിയതിൻരെ കാരണവും ഷെയ്ലിൻറെ കണ്ടു പിടുത്തമാണ്. ഇന്ധനരംഗത്ത് ഇനി ഷെയിലിൻറെ യുഗമായിരിക്കുമെന്നും വിലയിരുത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.

As of 2013, the US, Canada, and China are the only countries producing shale gas in commercial quantities. The US and Canada are the only countries where shale gas is a significant part of the gas supply.
