ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെ വെസ്റ്റ് യോർക്ക്ഷെയർ കൗണ്ടിയിലെ ഒരു നഗരമാണ് ലീഡ്സ് Leeds /liːdz/ ⓘ[2] അഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ എൽമെറ്റ് രാജ്യത്തിലെ ഒരു കാട്ടുപ്രദേശമായിരുന്ന ഈ സ്ഥലം പതിനേഴും പതിനെട്ടും നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളിൽ കമ്പിളിനിർമ്മാണത്തിന്റെയും വിപണനത്തിന്റേയും പ്രധാനകേന്ദ്രമായിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് വ്യവസായ വിപ്ലവകാലത്തിൽ പ്രധാന മിൽ നഗരമായിത്തീർന്ന ഇവിടെ കമ്പിളിക്കുപുറമേ എഞ്ചിനീയറിങ്, ഫൗണ്ടറി, പ്രിന്റിങ്ങ് വ്യവസായങ്ങളും അഭിവൃദ്ധി പ്രാപിച്ചു[3]
ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിൽ ലണ്ടനു പുറത്തുള്ള ഏറ്റവും തിരക്കുപിടിച്ച മൂന്നാമത്തെ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനും യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണത്തിൽ പതിനാറാമത്തെ വിമാനത്താവളവുമാണ് .[4]
