നേപ്പാളിലെ തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ മേഖലയിലെ പ്രവിശ്യ നമ്പർ രണ്ടിലെ ഒരു നഗരമാണ് രാജ്‌വിരാജ് - Rajbiraj (Nepali: राजविराज) രണ്ടാം നമ്പർ പ്രവിശ്യയിലെ എട്ടാമത്തെ വലിയ നഗരവും സപ്തരി ജില്ലയുടെ ആസ്ഥാനവുമാണ് രാജ്‌വിരാജ്. 1938ൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ നഗരമായ ജയ്പൂരിന് അനുസരിച്ചാണ് ഈ നഗരം ക്രമീകൃതമായി രൂപ കൽപ്പന ചെയ്തത്. 1959ലാണ് ഈ നഗരം മുൻസിപ്പാലിറ്റിയായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. [2]നഗരാസൂത്രണം ലഭിച്ച നേപ്പാളിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ടൗൺഷിപ്പാണ് ഈ നഗരം. 2011ലെ നേപ്പാൾ ജനസംഖ്യാ കണക്കെടുപ്പ് പ്രകാരം 69,803ആണ് ഈ നഗരത്തിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ.[3][4], നേപ്പാളിലെ 33ാമത്തെ വലിയ മുൻസിപ്പാലിറ്റിയാണ് ഇത്.[5] 16 വാർഡുകൾ അടങ്ങിയ ഈ നഗരത്തിന്റെ ആകെ വിസ്തീർണം 55.64 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്ററാണ്.
പേരിന് പിന്നിൽ[തിരുത്തുക]
14ാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ച പുരാതന രാജ്‌ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സ്മരണാർത്ഥമാണ് ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിന് രാജ്‌വിരാജ് എന്ന പേര് നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. നേപ്പാളിന്റെ ആധുനിക രാഷ്ട്രീയ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഏറെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള നഗരമാണ് രാജ്‌വിരാജ്.[6][7] രാജ്യത്തെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പല പ്രമുഖരുടെയും മാതൃ നഗരം കൂടിയാണ് ഇത്.
