മിറിയം അമാൻഡ് വാല്ലസ് “മാ” ഫെർഗൂസൺ (ജീവിതകാലം: ജൂൺ 13, 1875 – ജൂൺ 25, 1961) അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ ടെക്സാസിൻറെ ആദ്യഗവർണ്ണറായിരുന്നു. 1925 മുതൽ 1927 വരെയും 1933 മുതൽ 1935 വരെയുമുള്ള കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് മിറിയം ഈ സ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചിരുന്നത്.[1]
ആദ്യകാലജീവിതം
[തിരുത്തുക]മിറിയം ഫെർഗൂസൺ, മിറിയം അമാൻഡ വാല്ലസ് എന്ന പേരിൽ ടെക്സാസിലെ ബെൽ കൌണ്ടിയിലാണ് ജനിച്ചത്. സലാഡോ കോളജിലും ബെയ്ലോർ വനിതാ കോളജിലും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ചെയ്തു. 24 വയസിൽ ഒരു അഭിഭാഷകനായിരുന്ന ജയിംസ് എഡ്വാർഡ് ഫെർഗൂസണെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. അവർക്ക് “മാ” എന്നൊരു അപരനാമമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഭർത്താവ് “പാ” ഫെർഗൂസൺ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. ഔഡിയ, ഡോറിസ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ട് പെൺകുട്ടികളായിരുന്നു മക്കളായി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. ജയിംസ് ഫെർഗൂസൺ 1915 മുതൽ 1917 വരെയുള്ള കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ടെക്സാസ് ഗവർണ്ണറായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും രണ്ടാമത്തെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിനു ശേഷം ഇംപീച്ച് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ശിക്ഷയുടെ ഭാഗമായി ടെക്സാസിലെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ചുമതലകൾ വീണ്ടും വഹിക്കുന്നതിനു വിലക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.[2]
