ദുനം (ഏകകം)
ഒട്ടോമൻ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിൽ വിസ്തീർണ്ണം അളക്കാനായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു ഏകകമാണ് ദുനം (ഓട്ടൊമൻ ടർക്കിഷ്: دونم ; തുർക്കിഷ്: dönüm). ദൊനം, ദുനും, ഒട്ടോമൻ സ്ട്രെമ്മ എന്നീ പേരുകളിലും അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഒട്ടോമൻ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ കീഴിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പല പ്രവിശ്യകളിലും ഇന്നും ദുനം ഭൂമിയുടെ വിസ്തീർണ്ണം കണക്കാക്കാൻ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുവരുന്നു[1][2]. ഗ്രീക്ക്-ബൈസാന്റിയൻ സ്ട്രെമ്മയുടെ തുല്യമായിരുന്നു ദുനം എന്നതിനാൽ ഗ്രീക്കുകാരിൽ നിന്ന് തുർക്കികൾ സ്വീകരിച്ചതാണ് ഇത് എന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു[3]. നാല്പത് പേസ് നീളവും അതേ വീതിയുമുള്ള സമചതുരമാണ് ഒരു ദുനം എന്നാണ് വിവക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.[4]
എന്നാൽ നിലവിലുള്ള മെട്രിക് ദുനം, കൃത്യമായി 1000 ചതുരശ്ര മീറ്ററാണ് (ഒരു ഡെകേർ (Decare), അഥവാ ഒരു ഹെക്റ്ററിന്റെ പത്തിലൊന്ന്).[1]
