റവ. ഫാ. ഡേവിസ് ചിറമേൽ (ജനനം: 30 മേയ് 1960) ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഒരു കത്തോലിക്ക പുരോഹിതനും മാനുഷിക പ്രവർത്തകനും അവയവദാനത്തിനായുള്ള ആഗോള പ്രചാരകനുമാണ്. “കിഡ്നി പ്രീസ്റ്റ്” എന്ന പേരിൽ വ്യാപകമായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കിഡ്നി ഫെഡറേഷൻ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ, ആക്സിഡന്റ് കേയർ ആൻഡ് ട്രാൻസ്‌പോർട്ട് സർവീസ് (ACTS) തുടങ്ങിയ നിരവധി സാമൂഹ്യക്ഷേമ പദ്ധതികളുടെ സ്ഥാപകനാണ്. അവയവദാനം, ഭക്ഷണക്ഷാമ നിർമ്മാർജനം, പിന്നാക്ക സമൂഹങ്ങളുടെ ഉന്നമനം എന്നീ മേഖലകളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം നിർണായകമായ സംഭാവനകളാണ് നൽകിയത്. നിലവിൽ അദ്ദേഹം സിറോ മലബാർ - തൃശൂർ അതിരൂപതയിൽ സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നു.

മുൻകാലജീവിതവും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും

ഡേവിസ് ചിറമേൽ 1960 മേയ് 30 ന് തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ അരണാട്ടുകരയിൽ ചിറമേൽ ചാക്കണ്ണിയുടെയും കൊച്ചന്നത്തിന്റെയും നാലാമത്തെ മകനായി ജനിച്ചു. പ്രകൃതിയോടൊപ്പം ചെലവഴിച്ച ബാല്യകാലം മനുഷ്യരോടും മൃഗങ്ങളോടും ഉള്ള സഹാനുഭൂതി വളർത്തി. തരകൻസ് ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ അദ്ദേഹം തൃശൂർ തോപിലുള്ള സെന്റ് മേരീസ് മൈനർ സെമിനാരിയിലും തുടർന്ന് ആലുവയിലെ പൊന്തിഫിക്കൽ സെമിനാരിയിലും പുരോഹിത പരിശീലനം നേടി. 1988 ഡിസംബർ 30ന് ആർച്ച് ബിഷപ്പ് മാർ ജോസഫ് കുണ്ടുകുളം അരണാട്ടുകരയിലെ സെന്റ് തോമസ് പള്ളിയിൽ വെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പുരോഹിതനായി അഭിഷിക്തനാക്കി.

പുരോഹിതസേവനവും മാനുഷിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും

ഫാ. ഡേവിസ് ചിറമേലിന്റെ സേവനജീവിതം കരുണ, സാമൂഹിക ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം, പ്രവർത്തനപരമായ ഇടപെടൽ എന്നീ മൂല്യങ്ങളാൽ പ്രതിച്ഛായ നേടുന്ന ഒന്നാണ്. “പ്രബോധനത്തിന് മുമ്പ് പ്രവർത്തനം” എന്ന തന്റെ ദർശനം അനുസരിച്ച്, മറ്റുള്ളവരെ പ്രചോദിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് സ്വയം മാതൃകയായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിൽ അദ്ദേഹം വിശ്വസിച്ചു. വിവിധ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും വ്യാപകമായ സാമൂഹ്യക്ഷേമ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചു.

അവയവദാനവും കിഡ്നി ഫെഡറേഷൻ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയും

2009 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 30ന്, ഫാ. ചിറമേൽ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ അവയവദാനം നടത്തിയ ആദ്യത്തെ കത്തോലിക്ക പുരോഹിതൻ ആയി. ഗോപിനാഥൻ എന്ന ഹിന്ദു ഇലക്ട്രീഷ്യന് തന്റെ ഒരു വൃക്ക അദ്ദേഹം ദാനം ചെയ്തു. ഈ മഹദ്‌കരുണ പ്രവർത്തി ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളം അവയവദാന പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന് ശക്തി നൽകി. ഇതിന് തുടർന്നാണ് തൃശ്ശൂരിൽ ആസ്ഥാനമായി കിഡ്നി ഫെഡറേഷൻ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ (KFI) രൂപം കൊണ്ടത്.

KFI ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും മരിച്ചതിനും ശേഷമുള്ള അവയവദാനം, ഡയാലിസിസ് സഹായം, കിഡ്നി മാറ്റിവെക്കലുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട സഹായം, അവയവദാനത്തിനുള്ള ബോധവത്കരണ പ്രചാരണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ നടത്തുന്നു. അവയവദാനത്തിന് വേണ്ടി നടന്ന മഹത്തായ മാനവകാരുണ്യ യാത്ര ഡേവിസ് അച്ചന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.

ആക്സിഡന്റ് കെയർ ആൻഡ് ട്രാൻസ്‌പോർട്ട് സർവീസ് (ACTS)

വർഷം 2000 ൽ, റോഡപകടങ്ങളിൽപ്പെട്ടവരെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട് ഫാ. ഡേവിസ് ചിറമേൽ ആക്സിഡന്റ് കെയർ ആൻഡ് ട്രാൻസ്‌പോർട്ട് സർവീസ് (ACTS) സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. 50,000-ത്തിലധികം സന്നദ്ധ പ്രവർത്തകരും 3,00,000-ത്തിലധികം ആളുകളെയും സഹായിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള രാജ്യത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ സന്നദ്ധ അടിയന്തര ശൃംഖലകളിലൊന്നായി ഇത് വളർന്നു. ഈ സംരംഭം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ സമൂഹ അധിഷ്ഠിത അടിയന്തര പ്രതികരണ മാതൃകയായി പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

ഹങ്കർ ഹണ്ടും മറ്റു സാമൂഹിക പദ്ധതികളും

2020-ൽ ഫാ. ഡേവിസ് ചിറമേൽ ഹങ്കർ ഹണ്ട് ആരംഭിച്ചു — ആരും വിശന്നിരിക്കരുത് എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ കേരളം, ഒമാൻ, അമേരിക്ക എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ പൊതുഭക്ഷണ അലമാരകൾ, ഹോട്ടൽ പങ്കാളിത്തങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയുടെ സഹായത്തോടെ ഭക്ഷണം വിതരണം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

അദ്ദേഹം ആരംഭിച്ച മറ്റു പ്രധാന പദ്ധതികളാണ് ക്ലോത്ത് ബാങ്ക്, ഭവനരഹിതർക്കുള്ള വീടുകൾ, ഗ്രീൻ പാർക്ക്, ഹോപ്പ് രജിസ്റ്ററി തുടങ്ങിയവ

ഗ്രീൻ ലൈഫ് പ്രോഗ്രാമും യു.എ.ഇ യിലെ പ്രവർത്തനവും

2023-ൽ യു.എ.ഇ ആരോഗ്യ മന്ത്രാലയം (MOHAP) അദ്ദേഹത്തെ “ഹയാത് ചാമ്പ്യൻ (Hayat Champion)” ആയി നിയമിച്ചു. അവയവദാന പ്രചാരണത്തിൽ നൽകിയ നേതൃത്വത്തെ അനുസ്മരിച്ച് യു.എ.ഇയിൽ നടന്ന “ഒരു മണിക്കൂറിനുള്ളിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ ആളുകൾ ഓൺലൈനായി അവയവദാനത്തിന് രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്യുക” എന്ന ഗിന്നസ്‌ റെക്കോർഡ് (4,040 പേർ) അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് നേടിയത്.
