ചെമ്പു വാലൻ വാനമ്പാടിയുടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേര്rufous-tailed lark എന്നാണ്.(Ammomanes phoenicuraഎന്നതാണ് ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം. ഇവയെ rufous-tailed finch-larkഎന്നും അറിയാറുണ്ട്.ഇന്ത്യയിലേയും പാകിസ്താനിലേയും തുറന്ന കല്ലുള്ള പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിലത്താണ് കാണുന്നത്. വിത്തുകളും ധാന്യങ്ങളും പ്രാണികളുമാണ് ഭക്ഷണം. ഇവ ജോടികളായൊ ചെറു കൂട്ടങ്ങളായൊ ഇര തേടുന്നു.
രൂപ വിവരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
മങ്ങിയ തവിട്ടു നിറം മണ്ണിനോട് ചേർന്നു പോകുന്നതാണ്. പ്രജനന കാലത്ത് പൂവനേയും പിടയേയുംരെളുപ്പ്പ്പം തിരിച്ചറിയാം. മുകൾ കൊക്കിന്റെ അറ്റം അല്പം വളഞ്ഞതാണ്. കാപ്പി കലർന്ന തവിട്ടു നിറം. അടിവശം ചെമ്പുനിറമാണ്. തൊണ്ടയിലും മാറിടത്തിലും കറുത്ത വരകളുണ്ട്. മൂർദ്ധാവിലും വരകളുണ്ട്. വാലിന്റെ അറ്റത്ത് കറുത്ത വരകളുണ്ട്. ചെമ്പുനിറവും മുതുകിലെ ചുവന്ന നിറവും അറ്റത്തെക്ക് കനം കുറഞ്ഞു വരുന്ന കടുത്ത നിറവും ഒരു ത്രികോണ ആകൃതി നൽകുന്നു. [7]

പ്രജനനം[തിരുത്തുക]
സാധാരണ തറയിലാണ് ഇവയെ കാണുന്നത്. അപൂർവമായി മരങ്ങളിലും കമ്പികളിലും കാണാം.തറയിൽ നടന്നും ഓടിയും പ്രാണികളെ പിടിക്കുന്ന ഇവ വളരെ അടുത്തെത്തിയാൽ മാത്രമെ മാറുകയുള്ളു. ഫെബ്രുവരി മുതൽ മേയ് വരെയാണ് പ്രജനന കാലം. തറയിൽ ക്ഴിച്ചുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന കൂട്ടിൽ 2-4 മുട്ടകളിടും. പരന്ന ഓവൽ ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള മുട്ടകളാണ്. മങ്ങിയ മഞ്ഞകലർന്ന മുട്ടകൾ ഇടുന്നു. നിറയെ അടയാളങ്ങളുള്ള മുട്ടകളാണ്. വീതിയുള്ള ഭാഗത്ത് അടയാളം കൂടുതലുണ്ട്.
