ചെങ്കണ്ണി തിത്തിരിയെക്കാൾ അല്പം വലിപ്പം കൂടുതലുള്ള പക്ഷിയാണ് ചാരത്തലയൻ തിത്തിരി.[1] [2][3][4] കേരളത്തിൽ ഇതിനെ അപൂർവ്വമായേ കാണാറുള്ളു. ചാരനിറം കലർന്ന തവിട്ടുനിറത്തിലുള്ള തലയും തവിട്ടുനിറത്തിലുള്ള ദേഹവും മഞ്ഞ നിറമുള്ള കൊക്കും കാലുകളും ഇവയെ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നു. സപ്തംബർ മുതൽ ഏപ്രിൽ വരെയുള്ള മാസങ്ങളിലാണ് ഇവ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ വിരുന്നെത്തുന്നത്. സാധാരണ തണ്ണീർതടങ്ങളിലാണ് കണ്ട് വരുന്നത്. ദേശാടനക്കാരായ ചാരത്തലയൻ തിത്തിരികൾ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നത് ചൈന, ജപ്പാൻ, കൊറിയ തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലാണ്. ആഹാര രീതികളും പൊതുസ്വഭാവങ്ങളും മറ്റു തിത്തിരിപക്ഷികളുടേതുപോലെയാണ്.
