സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം കൺസെർവൻസിയുടെ എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് ഡയറക്ടറാണ് കാരെൻ സാന്റ്‍ലർ. ഗ്നോം ഫൌണ്ടേഷന്റെ എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് ഡയറക്ടറും സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം ലോ സെന്ററിന്റെ ജനറൽ കൌൺസിലുമായിരുന്നു. ഒരു വക്കീലായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നു.

സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയറിലെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ[തിരുത്തുക]

മാർച്ച് 2014 മുതൽ സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം കൺസെർവൻസിയുടെ എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് ഡയറക്ടറായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നു.[1]

ജൂൺ 2011[2] മുതൽ മാർച്ച് 2014[3] വരെ ഗ്നോം ഫൌണ്ടേഷന്റെ എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് ഡയറക്ടറായിരുന്നു. കൂടുതൽ സ്ത്രീകളെ സ്വതന്ത്രസോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയറിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കുക എന്ന പദ്ധതിയായ ഔട്ട്റീച്ച് പ്രോഗ്രാം ഫോർ വുമെനിന് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.[4]

31 ഒക്ടോബർ 2005[5] നും 21 ജൂൺ 2011നും ഇടക്ക് സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം ലോ സെന്ററിന്റെ കൌണ്സിലും പിന്നീട്  6 ജനുവരി 2010 നുശേഷം ഓർഗനൈസേഷന്റെ ജനറൽ കൌൺസിലുമായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. [6]

 ഫ്രീസോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫൌണ്ടേഷൻ, അപ്പാച്ചേ ഫൌണ്ടേഷൻ, എക്സ്.ഓർഗ് ഫൌണ്ടേഷൻ, സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഇൻ ദ പബ്ലിക് ഇന്ററസ്റ്റ്, സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം കൺസെർവൻസി തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ സംഘടനകൾക്ക് എസ്എഫ്എൽസിയുടെ ഉപദേശകയായി നിയമോപദേശം നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്വതന്ത്രസോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയറിന്റെ പ്രയോജനങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റിയും പ്രശ്നങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റിയും  ഓസ്കോൺ,[7][8] സ്കാലെ,[9] ലിനക്സ്കോൺ[10] തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ സമ്മേളനങ്ങളിൽ സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2010 ൽ ഇംപ്ലാന്റബിൾ മെഡിക്കൽ ഡിവൈസസിൽ[11] സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഉപയോഗിക്കേണ്ടതിനെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള ഒരു പ്രസ്ഥാനം നയിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. ഇത് സ്വന്തം ഉള്ളിൽ പിടിപ്പിച്ച ഒരു ഡിഫിബ്രിലേറ്ററിന്റെ (ഇത് ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനം നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന ഉപകരണമാണ്) പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ പഠിച്ചതിന് ശേഷമാണ് ഈ പരിപാടിക്ക് രൂപം കൊടുത്തത്. സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം കൺസെർവൻസിയിലെ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിനുപുറമേ ക്വസ്റ്റ്യൻ കോപ്പിറൈറ്റ് എന്ന സംഘടനയുടെയും ജനറൽ കൌൺസിലായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു[14]. സോഫ്റ്റ്‍വെയർ ഫ്രീഡം ലോ ഷോ(2008-2010)[15], ഫ്രീ ആസ് ഇൻ ഫ്രീഡം (2010-) തുടങ്ങിയ പോഡ് കാസ്റ്റുകളും സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[16]

എസ്എഫ്എൽസിയിലെ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിനു മുൻപ് ഗിബ്സൺ, ഡൺ ആന്റ് ക്രച്ചർ എൽഎൽപി എന്ന സ്ഥാപനത്തിൽ കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് വിഭാഗത്തിൽ അസോസിയേറ്റായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ ക്ലിഫോർഡ് ചാൻസ് എന്ന സ്ഥാപനത്തിലും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു.

2000 ൽ കൊളംബിയ ലോ സ്ക്കൂളിൽനിന്നും ലോ ഡിഗ്രി സാന്റ്‍ലർക്ക് ലഭിച്ചു. കൊളംബിയ സയൻസ് ആന്റ് ടെക്നോളജി ലോ റിവ്യൂവിന്റെ സഹസ്ഥാപകയും ജെയിംസ് കെന്റ് സ്കോളറും ആയിരുന്നു. ദ കൂപ്പർ യൂണിയനിൽനിന്ന് എൻജിനീയറിംഗിലെ ബാച്ലർ ഡിഗ്രിയും കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

സ്വകാര്യ ജീവിതം[തിരുത്തുക]

21 മെയ് 2011-ൽ കാരെൻ  ഗ്രാമി അവാർഡ് നോമിനേറ്ററും മ്യൂസിക് എൻജിനീയറുമായ മൈക് ടരന്റിനോയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. അവരുടെ ക്ഷണക്കത്ത് ഒരു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന പേപ്പർ റെക്കോഡ് പ്ലെയറും അതിന്റെ പ്ലേ റെക്കോഡുമായിരുന്നു. ഇത് അനേകം ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങൾ വാർത്തയാക്കിയിരുന്നു[17][18][19]. ഇതിൽ റെക്കോഡ് ചെയ്തിരുന്ന പാട്ട് ഇതാ ക്ഷണക്കത്ത് എന്നത് സാന്റ്‍ലറും ടരന്റിനോയും ചേർന്ന് നിർമ്മിച്ചതാണ്.
