കടലുണ്ടീ ആളയ്ക്ക് ആംഗലനാമം Sandwich tern എന്നും ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Thalasseus sandvicensis എന്നുമാണ്.)[2] ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ള ഈ ആള്യ്ക്ക് ചാര നിറത്തിലുള്ള മുകൾ ഭാഗം, മഞ്ഞഅറ്റമുള്ള കറുത്ത കൊക്ക്, കറുത്ത ഉച്ചിയുമുണ്ട്.
പ്രജനനം
[തിരുത്തുക]നിലത്തുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന കൂട്ടിൽ ഒരു മുട്ടയാണ് ഇടുന്നത്. വെള്ളത്തിൽ മുങ്ങി മത്സ്യത്തെപീടിക്കുന്നു. പൂവൻ, പിടയുമായി ഇരയെ പങ്കുവെക്കാറുണ്ട്.

വിവരണം

ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ള ഈ ആള്യുടെ നീളം 37-43 സെ.മീ. , ചിറകു വിരിപ്പ് 85-97 സെ.മീ. ആണ്. കൊക്ക് കൂർത്തതും കൂർത്തതും മഞ്ഞ അറ്റത്തോടു കൂടീയ കറുത്ത കൊക്കാണ്. നീളം കുറഞ്ഞ കാലിന് കറുത്ത് നിറമാണ്. മുകൾ പറക്കൽ ചിറകുകൾ മങ്ങിയ ചാര നിറം, അടിവശത്തിനു വെള്ള നിറവും. [3]
തആവാത്തവയ്ക്ക്ണുപ്പു കാലത്ത് നെറ്റി വെളുപ്പാവും. പ്രായംകുറഞ്ഞവയ്ക്ക് വാലിന്റെ അറ്റം ഇരുണ്ടതായിരിക്കും. ചിറകിലും പുറത്തും ചെതുമ്പൽ പോളെ അടയാളം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.[3]
പ്രജനനം
[തിരുത്തുക]കടൽ തീരങ്ങളിലും ദ്വീപുകളിലും കൂട്ടമായി പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. നിലത്ത് ചുരൺറ്റിയുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന കൂടുകളിൽ 1-3 മുട്ടകളിടുന്നു. ശ്ത്രുക്കളെ ശക്തമായി ആക്രമിക്കുന്നവയാണ്. കൂടുകൾ തമ്മിൽ20-30 സെ.മീ. അകലമെ ഉള്ളു.
