ഇന്ത്യൻ ഉപഭൂഖണ്ഡത്തിൽ നിന്നും ആളുകളെ വിവിധ കാലങ്ങളിൽ യൂറോപ്യൻ കൊളോണിയൽ അധികാരികളും അവരുടെ ഏജന്റുമാരും കരീബിയൻ, ഫിജി, ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്ക, മൗറീഷ്യസ് എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കൂലി തൊഴിലാളികളായി കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരുന്നു. ഇങ്ങിനെ ഇന്ത്യാക്കാർ ഈ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കുടിയേറിയതിന്റെ ഓർമ്മയ്ക്കായി ഈ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ വിവിധ ദിവസങ്ങളിലായി ആചരിക്കുന്ന ദിനമാണ് ഇന്ത്യൻ അറൈവൽ ഡേ. ഗയാന, മൗറീഷ്യസ്, ഫിജി, ട്രിനിഡാഡ് ആൻഡ് ടൊബാഗോ തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഇത് ഔദ്യോഗിക പൊതു അവധിയാണ്.^[3]^[4]^[5]^[6]
