ഇന്തോനേഷ്യയിലെ സുമാത്ര ദ്വീപിനടുത്തു സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മെന്തവായ് ദ്വീപുകളിലെ കാടുകളിൽ മാത്രം ഒതുങ്ങി നിൽക്കുന്ന കുരങ്ങുവർഗ്ഗമാണ് ഇന്തോനേഷ്യൻ പഗായ് ഐലന്റ് മകാക് (Macaca pagensis) അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പഗായ് മകാക് . ഇതിന്റെ സ്വാഭാവിക വാസസ്ഥലം ഇല്ലാതായി വന്നതിനാൽ ഐ. യു. സി. എൻ റെഡ് ലിസ്റ്റിൽ ഏറ്റവും ഗുരുതരമായ വംശനാശം നെരിടുന്ന ജീവിവർഗ്ഗമായി കണക്കാക്കിവരുന്നു.
