പത്മശ്രീ പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയ സാമ്പത്തിക ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞയും ഡൽഹി സർവകലാശാലയിലെ സാമ്പത്തികശാസ്ത്ര അധ്യാപികയുമാണ്. വികസനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും ഭൂമിയേയും വസ്തു ഉടമസ്ഥാവകാശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും ധാരാളം എഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. എ ഫീൽഡ് ഓഫ് ഒൺസ് ഓൺ: ജൻഡർ ആൻഡ് ലാൻഡ് റൈറ്റ്സ് ഇൻ സൗത്ത് ഏഷ്യ എന്ന കൃതി പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. ലാറ്റിൻ അമേരിക്കയിലും മറ്റ് രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെയും സാമൂഹ്യ ഗവേഷണങ്ങളെ സ്വാധീനിച്ച രചനയാണിത്.[2]
പശ്ചാത്തലം[തിരുത്തുക]
ഡൽഹി സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് ഡോക്ടറേറ്റ് നേടി. ഭാരതീയ കാർഷിക രംഗത്തെ യന്ത്രവൽക്കരണം എന്ന വിഷയത്തിലായിരുന്നു ഗവേഷണം. കേംബ്രിഡ്ജ് സർവകലാശാലയിലായിരുന്നു ബിരുദ - ബിരുദാനന്തര പഠനം. പ്രിൻസ്റ്റൺ, ഹാർവാർഡ്, മിച്ചിഗൻ, ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സർവകലാശാലകളിൽ അധ്യാപികയായിരുന്നു. ഹാർവാഡിലെ ആദ്യ ഡാനിയൽ ഇൻഗാൾസ് വിസിറ്റിംഗ് പ്രൊഫസറായിരുന്നു.[3]അന്തർദേശീയ പരിസ്ഥിതി സാമ്പത്തികശാസ്ത്ര സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റുമായിരുന്നു.[4]
