അഫ്ഗാനിസ്താനിൽ നൂറിസ്താന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറും തെക്കും അതിർത്തിപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്ന പഷായ് ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ജനവിഭാഗമാണ്‌ പഷായികൾ[3]. ഇവരെ കോഹിസ്ഥാനികൾ എന്നും ദിഹ്ഗാൻ വംശജർ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടാറുണ്ട്.. ഇവരിൽ കൂടുതൽ പേരും ഷിയകളാണ്‌. അലി ഇലാഹികൾ എന്നും ഇവർ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു[4]. 1982-ലെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച് ഇവരുടെ ജനസംഖ്യ 1,08,000 ആണ്‌[3].
1270-ൽ മാർക്കോപോളോ, ബദാഖ്‌ശാനിനു തെക്കുള്ള ഒരു പഷായ് എന്ന നാടിനെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയുന്നുണ്ട്. ഇത് ഇക്കൂട്ടരെയാണെന്നു കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവിടുത്തുകാർ തവിട്ടുനിറക്കാരാണെന്നും അവരുടേതായ വേറിട്ട ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നവരാണെന്നും വിഗ്രഹാരാധന നടത്തുന്നവരാണെന്നുമാണ്‌ മാർക്കോ പോളോ പറയുന്നത്[4].
