ഇറ്റാലിയൻ എഴുത്തുകാരനും,ഓഷ് വിറ്റ്സ് തടങ്കൽ പാളയത്തിലെ അന്തേവാസിയുമായിരുന്ന പ്രിമോ ലെവി (Primo Levi) (31 ജൂലൈ 1919 – 11 ഏപ്രിൽ 1987) ഇറ്റലിയിലെ ടൂറിനിൽ ജനിച്ചു. രസതന്ത്രത്തിൽ ടൂറിൻ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്നു 1941 ൽ ബിരുദം നേടിയ ലെവി ആദ്യം ഖനികളിലാണ് ജോലി ചെയ്തത്.[1] ഇറ്റലിയിലെ ഫാസിസ്റ്റ് ശക്തികൾക്കെതിരേയുള്ള പ്രതിരോധമുന്നണിയിൽ അണിചേർന്ന ലെവി പിന്നീട് പിടിയിലാവുകയും മൊദേനയ്ക്കടുത്തുള്ള ഫൊസ്സോളി ക്യാമ്പിലേയ്ക്ക് അയയ്ക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു. അധികം താമസിയാതെ തന്നെ ക്യാമ്പ് നാസികളുടെ കീഴിൽ ആയിത്തീരുകയും ,അവിടെ നിന്നും ഓഷ് വ്റ്റ്സിലേയ്ക്കു അയയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ട ലെവി 1945 ജനുവരി 18നു റെഡ്ആർമി ഈ ക്യാമ്പ് മോചിപ്പിയ്ക്കുന്നതുവരെ അവിടെത്തുടർന്നു.
