ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ മെയ്സ് ആന്റ് വീറ്റ് ഇംപ്രൂവ്മെന്റ് സെന്റർ (സ്പാനീഷ് സംക്ഷേപം, CIMMYT) ഭക്ഷ്യസുരക്ഷയ്ക്ക് സംഭാവന നൽകുകയെന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തിനായി ചോളം, ഗോതമ്പ് എന്നീ രണ്ടു ഭക്ഷ്യവിളകളുടെ മെച്ചപ്പെട്ട ഇനങ്ങളുടെ വികസനം, മെച്ചപ്പെട്ട കാർഷിക രീതികൾ പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിലൂടെ ചെറുകിട കർഷകർക്കു തങ്ങളുടെ ഉല്പാദനം വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനെ സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനായും വിളകളുടെ രോഗപ്രതിരോധശേഷ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ ഉത്പാദനം വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ച് അവരുടെ ഉപജീവന മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്താനുമായി സ്വയം സമർപ്പിതമായതും ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാത്തതുമായ ഒരു ഗവേഷണ പരിശീലന സ്ഥാപനമാണ്.[1][2][3][4] CGIAR ൽ അഫിലിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്ത 15 ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാത്ത, ഗവേഷണ പരിശീലന സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ഇത്. മുൻപ് സംബന്ധിച്ച കൺസൾട്ടേറ്റീവ് ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ഓൺ ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ അഗ്രികൾച്ചറൽ റിസർച്ച് എന്ന പേരിൽ മുമ്പ് അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന CGIAR ൽ അഫിലിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട 15 ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാത്ത, ഗവേഷണ പരിശീലന സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണിത്.[5]
