സ്രാവിനെ അവയുടെ ചിറകുകൾക്ക് വേണ്ടി പിടിക്കുന്ന രീതി ആണ് ഷാർക്ക് ഫിന്നിങ്. മിക്കപ്പോഴും ജീവനോടെ ഉള്ള സ്രാവുകളെ ചിറകുകൾ മുറിച്ചു എടുത്ത ശേഷം കടലിൽ ഉപേഷിക്കുന്നതാണ് രീതി , ചിറകുകൾ നഷ്ടപെട്ട് ഇവ നീന്താൻ കഴിയാതെ കടലിന്റെ അടിത്തട്ടിലേക്ക് മുങ്ങി പോകുകയും ഒന്നുകിൽ ശ്വാസതടസം കൊണ്ട് ചാവുകയോ അല്ലെക്കിൽ മറ്റു മത്സ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് ആഹാരമാകുകയോ ചെയ്യാറാണു പതിവ് .[1][2][3]

മീൻപിടുത്തക്കാർ തങ്ങളുടെ വരുമാനം കൂടാൻ ഉള്ള ഒരു ഉപാധി ആയാണ് ഇതിനെ കാണുന്നത് , സ്രാവിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വിലപിടിപ്പുള്ള ഭാഗമാണ് അതിന്റെ ചിറക് , അതുമാത്രം ശേഖരിക്കുക വഴി സ്രാവിനെ മുഴുവനായി കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ട ബാദ്ധ്യത ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ ആണ് ഇത് ചെയുന്നത്. ചില രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഇത് നിയമം മൂലം നിരോധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[4]
