വിജയ ലക്ഷ്മി മെൽനിക്ക്1937 നവംബർ19 നാണ്ജനിച്ചത്. [1] അവർ ഭാരതത്തിൽ ജനിച്ച, ജീവശസ്ത്രം]] , പരിസ്ഥിതി ശാസ്ത്രം , രോഗപ്രതിരോധശാസ്ത്രം എന്നിവയിൽ പ്രത്യേക പരിശീലനം നേടിയ അമേരിക്കൻ അദ്ധ്യാപികയാണ്. കൊളംബിയ ജില്ല സർവകലാശാല യിൽ ജീവശാസ്ത്രത്തിലും പരിസ്ഥിതിശാസ്ത്രത്തിലും പ്രൊഫസർ എമിർറ്റസ് ആയിരുന്നു. ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്രസഭയുടെ അന്തരാഷ്ട്ര ആരോഗ്യ ബോധവൽക്കരണ ശൃംഗലയുടെ ആദ്യത്തെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റും[2]സഹ പ്രസിഡന്റും]].[2] [3]ആയിരുന്നു. അവർ കുറെ ഗവേഷണ പ്രബന്ധങ്ങളും പുസ്തകങ്ങളും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്..[4] ഒരു മകനുണ്ട്. .[1]
ചെറുപ്പകാലം
[തിരുത്തുക]വിജയ ലക്ഷ്മി കേരളത്തിലെ കോഴിക്കോട് ആണ് ജനിച്ചത്. ഫ്രാൻസിസ്കൻ കന്യാസ്ത്രീകൾ നടത്തിയിരുന്ന ഇംഗ്ളീഷ് മാധ്യമമായുള്ള പള്ളിക്കൂടത്തിലാണ് പഠിച്ചത്. പിന്നീട് വനിത കോളേജിലും കാർഷിക കോളേജിലും പഠിച്ചു. അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യ നാടുകളിൽ പഠിക്കാനായി അന്തരാഷ്ട്ര സമാധാന സ്കോളർഷിപ്പ് കിട്ടി, വിസ്കോൺസിൻ സർവകലാശാലയിൽ ചേർന്നു[1] അവിടെ നിന്ന് ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദവും ഡോക്ടറൽ ബിരുദവും കിട്ടി. പോസ്റ്റ് ഡോക്ടറൽ പരിശീലനത്തിനായി അവിടെ തുടർന്നു. .[2]
