പ്രമുഖ ഭൗതികശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും കോസ്മിക് വികിരണങ്ങളെ സംബന്ധിച്ച ഗവേഷണങ്ങളിൽ പ്രധാന സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകിയിട്ടുള്ള വ്യക്തിയുമാണ് ബി. വി. ശ്രീകണ്ഠൻ (30 ജൂൺ 1925- നഞ്ചൻഗോഡ്-കർണ്ണാടക)ഹോമി .ജെ. ഭാഭയുടെ പ്രധാന സഹപ്രവർത്തകനായിരുന്ന ശ്രീകണ്ഠനു പദ്മഭൂഷൺ സമ്മാനിയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.[1]
ജീവിതരേഖ[തിരുത്തുക]
നഞ്ചൻഗോഡ് സ്ക്കൂളിൽ നിന്നും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശ്രീകണ്ഠൻ മൈസൂരിൽ നിന്നു ദ്വിവർഷ ബിരുദവും നേടി.സെൻട്രൽ കോളെജിൽ പഠനം തുടർന്ന അദ്ദേഹം 1946 ൽ ഭൗതിക ശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ബിരുദവും ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദവും നേടി.പിന്നീടാണ് ഗവേഷണത്തിനായി ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് സയൻസിൽ ഗവേഷണത്തിനായി ചേരുന്നത്.
