തമിഴത്ത് തായ് (Tamiḻ Tāy, Thamizh Thaai) എന്ന വാക്ക് തമിഴ് ഭാഷയിൽ അമ്മയെ ബഹുമാനിക്കാനായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. പത്തൊൻപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ പകുതിൽ തമിഴ് നവോത്ഥാന പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ തമിഴ് ഭാഷയെ ഒരു അമ്മയായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[1]1891-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച - മനോന്മണീയം പി. സുന്ദരംപിള്ള (1855 - 1897) എഴുതിയ "മനോന്മണീയം" എന്ന നാടകത്തിൽ ഈ വാക്ക് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചതിനുശേഷം തമിഴ് വാക്കിൽ ഈ വാക്യം ജനപ്രിയമായി മാറി.
