ജൂലിയ വാർഡ് ഹോവ് (/haʊ/;[1] ജീവിതകാലം: മെയ് 27, 1819 – ഒക്ടോബർ 17, 1910) ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ കവയിത്രിയും ഗ്രന്ഥകാരിയുമായിരുന്നു."The Battle Hymn of the Republic" എന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിലൂടെയാണ് അവർ കൂടുതൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. അടിമത്തവിരുദ്ധ പ്രസ്ഥാത്തിൻറെ വക്താവായിരുന്നു അവർ. ഒരു സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രവർത്തകയായിരുന്ന അവർ സ്ത്രീവോട്ടവകാശത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയും ശബ്ദമുയർത്തിയിരുന്നു.
ആദ്യകാലജീവിതം[തിരുത്തുക]
ന്യൂയോർക്ക് നഗരത്തിൽ 1819 മെയ് 27 നാണ് ഹോവ് ജനിച്ചത്. ഇടത്തരം കുടുംബത്തിലെ മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ ഏഴുമക്കളിൽ നാലാമത്തെയാളായിരുന്നു ഹോവ്. അവരുടെ പിതാവ് സാമുവൽ വാർഡ് III വാൾസ്ട്രീറ്റിലെ ഓഹരിദല്ലാൾ ആയിരുന്നു. മാതാവ് റഷ് കട്ട്ലർ[2] ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ കവിതകളെഴുതിയിരുന്നു. മകൾക്ക് 5 വയസു പ്രായമുള്ളപ്പോൾ അവർ ക്ഷയരോഗം കാരണമായി മരണമടഞ്ഞു.
