ടിബറ്റ് സ്വയംഭരണ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലൂടെയും നേപ്പാളിന്റെ തെക്കൻ മലഞ്ചെരിവുകളിലുമൊക്കെയായി ഹിമലായത്തിന്റെ വടക്കൻ മലഞ്ചെരിവുകളിലൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്ന ഒരു നദിയാണ് കോശി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കോസി നദി (നേപ്പാളി: कोशी नदी, koshī nadī कोसी नदी, kosī nadī).[3][1][2] ഗംഗയുടെ ഹിമാലയൻ പോഷകനദികൂടിയായ ഈ നദിയിൽ ഗതിമാറി ഒഴുകുന്നതിന്റേയും പ്രളയത്തിന്റേയും പര്യായമാണ്. ബീഹാറിന്റെ ദുഃഖം എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഈ നദി ബീഹാറിന്റെ ഉത്തര-പൂർവ്വ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ വളരെയേറെ നാശനഷ്ടങ്ങൾ വരുത്തിക്കൂട്ടുന്നു.
