എല്ല വിപ്പിൾ മാർഷ് 1851 ജനുവരി 20 ന് ഇല്ലിനോയിയിലെ ബറ്റാവിയയിലാണ് ജനിച്ചത്. അവളുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ രണ്ടുപേരും ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വംശജരായിരുന്നു, അവളുടെ പിതാവ് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ പ്രഖ്യാപനത്തിൽ ഒപ്പുവച്ചവരിൽ ഒരാളായ വില്യം വിപ്പിളിന്റെ പിൻഗാമിയായിരുന്നു. അവളുടെ അച്ഛൻ ന്യൂയോർക്കിലെ ചൗതൗക്വാ കൗണ്ടിയിൽ ജനിച്ചു വളർന്നു, അമ്മ ന്യൂജേഴ്‌സിയിൽ ജനിച്ച് ന്യൂയോർക്കിലെ ഓറഞ്ച് കൗണ്ടിയിൽ വളർന്നു. അവർ ഇരുവരും ഇല്ലിനോയിസിലേക്ക് താമസം മാറി, അവിടെ അവർ വിവാഹിതരായി. 1852-ൽ അവർ കാളസംഘം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന് ആദ്യകാല കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരിലൊരാളായി സമതലങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഒറിഗോണിലേക്ക് യാത്ര തുടങ്ങി. അവളുടെ BS-ന് ശേഷമുള്ള ഒമ്പത് വർഷം ഒറിഗോണിലെയും വാഷിംഗ്ടണിലെയും സ്കൂളുകളിൽ അധ്യാപനത്തിൽ ചെലവഴിച്ചു, അവിടെ അവൾ വളരെ വിജയകരമായ ഒരു അധ്യാപിക എന്ന പ്രശസ്തി നേടി. രണ്ട് വർഷം ബേക്കർ സിറ്റി അക്കാദമിയുടെ പ്രിസെപ്റ്ററായിരുന്നു, പിന്നീട് അസ്റ്റോറിയ പബ്ലിക് സ്കൂളുകളുടെ പ്രിൻസിപ്പലായിരുന്നു. [4]
മെഡിക്കൽ പ്രൊഫഷനിലേക്ക് സ്വയം തയ്യാറെടുക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ച അവൾ അദ്ധ്യാപനം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, മൂന്ന് വർഷത്തെ പഠനത്തിന് ശേഷം 1883-ൽ വില്ലാമെറ്റ് സർവകലാശാലയിലെ മെഡിക്കൽ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ബിരുദം നേടി. മിഷിഗണിലെ ബാറ്റിൽ ക്രീക്കിലെ സാനിറ്റോറിയത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേക പഠനത്തിന്റെയും ആശുപത്രി പരിശീലനത്തിന്റെയും പ്രയോജനം അവൾക്ക് ലഭിച്ചു. 1888 -ൽ കാലിഫോർണിയയിലെ പസഡെനയിലേക്ക് മാറുന്നതുവരെ അവൾ വാൻകൂവറിലെ ഒരു സജീവ പ്രാക്ടീഷണറായിരുന്നു [5]
