Alummoottil Sivadasan Channar, the third child of A. P. Chellamma Channatti and T. K. Madhava Panickar was born on May 23, 1940. His childhood was spent with his maternal grandmother Alummoottil Oommini Channatti Narayani Channatti at his family tharavad of Alummoottil, in Muttom-Haripad village. His father was an officer in the Travancore Police department and his maternal uncle A. P. Udayabhanu was a member and leader of the Indian National Congress party during the pre-independence India. Sivadasan Channar is a graduate of the College of Engineering Trivandrum, Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Columbia University & Stevens Institute of Technology from where he got a PhD in Engineering. He worked in the USA for several major corporations and retired from At&t as a Principal Systems Analyst. His hobbies are: Writing, Music, Model aircraft design - construction - flying, and wood turning. His classical wood turnings are very artistic and are well recognized.
