മൗറീഷ്യസ് ദ്വീപുകളിൽ വളർന്നിരുന്ന വളർച്ചാ വലയങ്ങളില്ലാത്ത മരങ്ങളായിരുന്നു കാൽവേരിയ മേജർ (Calvaria major), ഡോഡോ മരം എന്ന പേരില്ലും ഇവ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. തംബാലകോക്ക് എന്നും ഈ മരങ്ങൾ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഡോഡോ പക്ഷിയുടെ ദഹനവ്യവസ്ഥയിലൂടെ ദഹിച്ചശേഷം പുറത്തുവരുന്ന ഇവയുടെ വിത്തുകൾ മാത്രമേ മണ്ണിൽ വീണ് മുളയ്ക്കുമായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. അതിനാൽ ഡോഡോ പക്ഷിയും കാൽവേരിയാ മരവും തമ്മിൽ സഹോദരനിർവിശേഷമെന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന തരം ബന്ധമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു[1]. കാലക്രമേണ, മനുഷ്യചൂഷണത്താൽ ഡോഡോ പക്ഷികൾ വംശനാശം നേരിട്ടപ്പോൾ വിത്തുകൾ മുളപ്പിക്കാനാകാതെ കാൽവേരിയ മരവും വംശനാശം നേരിടേണ്ടിവന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഇവ മുളപ്പികുനത് ടർക്കി പക്ഷിയുടെ ദഹനവ്യവസ്ഥയിലൂടെ ദഹിച്ചശേഷം പുറത്തുവരുന്ന ഇവയുടെ വിത്തുകള്ളിലുടെയും, പോളിഷ് ചെയ്തു എടുത്ത വിത്തുകള്ളിലുടെയും ആണ് .
