പാപുവ ന്യൂ ഗിനിയ ദ്വീപിൽ നിന്നും ലോകത്തിലെ നട്ടെല്ലുള്ള ജീവികളിൽ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ ഇനത്തെ 2009 ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. പീഡോഫ്രിൻ അമൊയെൻസിസ് (Paedophryne amauensis) എന്ന് നാമകരണം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന, തവള വർഗത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഇവയുടെ നീളം 7.7 മില്ലീ മീറ്റർ മാത്രമാണ്. [3]
