ആദ്യകാലം[തിരുത്തുക]
വില്ല്യംസൺ മിസിസിപ്പിയിലെ ടാലഹാച്ചിയിലാണ് ജനിച്ചത്. ജനനത്തീയതിയെക്കുറിച്ച് അവ്യക്തത നിലനിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.[6][7][8]. 1930 കളുടെതുടക്കത്തിൽ തന്നെ ബിഗ് ജോ വില്ല്യംസ്, എൽമോർ ജയിംസ് ,റോബർട്ട് ലോക്ക്വുഡ് ജൂനിയർ എന്നീ ഗായകരുമായി സഹകരിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.
