വെയ്‌ലോണെല്ല ജനുസ്‌സിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന കർശനമായ വായുരഹിത, ഗ്രാം നെഗറ്റീവ്, കോക്കസ് ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള ഒരു ബാക്ടീരിയയാണ് വെയ്‌ലോനെല്ല പാർവുല.[2] ഇത് വാക്കാൽ സസ്യജാലങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു സാധാരണ ഭാഗമാണെന്നിരുന്നാലും പീരിയോൺഡൈറ്റിസ്, ദന്തക്ഷയം തുടങ്ങിയ രോഗങ്ങളുമായും മെനിഞ്ചൈറ്റിസ്, ഓസ്റ്റിയോമെയിലൈറ്റിസ് എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ വിവിധ വ്യവസ്ഥാപരമായ അണുബാധകളുമായും ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.[3] ബാക്‌ടീരിയൽ വാഗിനോസിസ് ഉള്ള സ്ത്രീകളിൽ നിന്നും വേർതിരിച്ചെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ള ഇത് കാംപിലോബാക്റ്റർ റെക്ടസ്, പ്രിവോടെല്ല മെലാനിനോജെനിക്ക എന്നിവയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം രക്താതിമർദ്ദവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.[4]
