പരുന്ത് , അസിപ്രിഡേ എന്ന കുടുബത്തിൽ പ്പെടുന്ന പക്ഷിപിടിയൻ പക്ഷികളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. ഏകദേശം 60ൽ പരം പക്ഷികൾ ഈ വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്[1]. ഇവയെ ലോകത്തിന്റെ മിക്കയിടങ്ങളിലും കണ്ടുവരുന്നു.
