എലിസബെത്ത് കാർട്ടർ(16 December 1717 – 19 February 1806) ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് കവയിത്രിയും ക്ലാസ്സിക്കൽ പക്ഷരചയിതാവും വിവർത്തകയും ആയിരുന്നു.

മുൻകാല ജീവിതം

എലിസബെത്ത് കാർട്ടർ കെന്റിലെ ഡീൽ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് റവ. നിക്കോളാസ് കാർട്ടറുടെയും മാർഗരെറ്റിന്റെയും മകളായി ജനിച്ചു. എലിസബെത്തിനു 10 വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ മാതാവായ മാർഗരെറ്റ് മരിച്ചു. തന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ പ്രചോദനത്തിൽ അവർ പഠനം തുടർന്നു. എലിസബെത്ത് കാർട്ടർ, അനേകം ആധുനികവും പുരാതനവുമായ ഭാഷകൾ സ്വായത്തമാക്കി. ലാറ്റിൻ, ഗ്രീക്ക്, ഹിബ്രു, അറാബിക്ക് തുടങ്ങിയ ഭാഷകൾ അവർക്ക് അറിയാമായിരുന്നു.
