1963 ൽ യുണൈറ്റഡ് കിംഗ്ഡത്തിലെ ബർമിംഗ്ഹാമിലാണ് അർവിന്ദർ സിംഗ് സോയിൻ ജനിച്ചത്. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ നിന്നും യുകെയിൽ നിന്നും വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രവും ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയും പഠിച്ചു. ന്യൂഡൽഹിയിലെ ഓൾ ഇന്ത്യ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് മെഡിക്കൽ സയൻസസിലെ പൂർവ്വ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായ അദ്ദേഹം 11 വർഷം എംബിബിഎസ്, എംഎസ് ബിരുദങ്ങൾ നേടാനും തുടർന്ന് കരൾ, ഗ്യാസ്ട്രോ ഇന്റസ്റ്റൈനൽ സർജറി എന്നിവയിൽ സ്പെഷ്യലിസ്റ്റ് പരിചയം നേടാനും എടുത്തു. പോർട്ടൽ ഹൈപ്പർടെൻസിവ് ഗ്യാസ്ട്രോപതിയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഗവേഷണ പ്രബന്ധം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. കൂടാതെ, യുകെയിലെ ഗ്ലാസ്ഗോയിൽ നിന്നും എഡിൻ‌ബർഗിൽ നിന്നും എഫ്‌ആർ‌സി‌എസ് ( റോയൽ കോളേജ് ഓഫ് സർജന്റെ ഫെലോഷിപ്പ്) ബിരുദങ്ങളും നേടി. ട്രാൻസ്പ്ലാൻറ് സർജറിയിൽ ഇന്റർകോളീജിയറ്റ് എഫ്‌ആർ‌സി‌എസിന് യോഗ്യത നേടുകയും ലഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത യുകെയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ കുറച്ച് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയാ വിദഗ്ധരിൽ ഒരാളാണ് ഡോ. സോയിൻ ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ രണ്ട് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ 5 വർഷത്തോളം കേംബ്രിഡ്ജ് സർവകലാശാലയിലും കരൾ, ബിലിയറി സർജറി, കരൾ, വൃക്ക, ചെറുകുടൽ, പാൻക്രിയാസ് ട്രാൻസ്പ്ലാൻറേഷൻ എന്നിവയ്ക്കായി 6 വർഷത്തോളം അദ്ദേഹം പരിശീലനം നേടി. കേംബ്രിഡ്ജിൽ, ആഗോള അവയവം മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കൽ പയനിയറായിരുന്ന റോയ് യോർക്ക് കാൽനെ കീഴിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പരിശീലനം നേടി.

തൊഴിൽ / പ്രൊഫഷണൽ പരിചയം[തിരുത്തുക]

1998-ൽ തന്റെ കരിയറിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ കേംബ്രിഡ്ജ് സർവകലാശാലയിൽ ഫാക്കൽറ്റിയാകാനുള്ള അവസരം അദ്ദേഹം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും കരൾ മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കൽ രംഗത്ത് മികവിന്റെ കേന്ദ്രം സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ ഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തു. കരൾ മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കൽ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയാ വിദഗ്ധനും ഹെപ്പറ്റോബിലിയറി സർജനുമായി 21 വർഷത്തെ തന്റെ അനുഭവപരിചയത്തിൽ ഡോ. സോയിൻ 1500 ലധികം കരൾ മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കലുകളും 12000 ലധികം കരൾ, പിത്താശയ, പിത്തരസധമനി ശസ്ത്രക്രിയകളും നടത്തി.

2001 മുതൽ 2010 വരെ അദ്ദേഹം സർ ഗംഗാരം ആശുപത്രിയിൽ കരൾ മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കൽ കേന്ദ്രം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, 2010 ജൂണിൽ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ മുഴുവൻ ടീമിനൊപ്പം ഗുഡ്ഗാവിലെ (ദില്ലി-എൻ‌സി‌ആർ) മെഡാന്ത-ദി മെഡിസിറ്റിയിലേക്ക് മാറി, അവിടെ ഡോ. സോയിൻ 150 കിടക്കകളുള്ള (36 കരൾ ഐസിയു കിടക്കകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ) സമർപ്പിത കരൾ ചികിത്സാ സൗകര്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു, 250 കരൾ ട്രാൻസ്പ്ലാൻറുകളും ഓരോ വർഷവും നൂറുകണക്കിന് സങ്കീർണ്ണ കരൾ, ബിലിയറി ലഘുലേഖ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയകളും നടത്തുന്നു.

ഗവേഷണവും പ്രത്യേകതയും[തിരുത്തുക]

കരൾ മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കൽ മേഖലയിലെ ഗവേഷണത്തിനും 1998 ൽ രാജ്യത്ത് ആദ്യത്തെ വിജയകരമായ ട്രാൻസ്പ്ലാൻറ് നടത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ കരൾ മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതിനും ഡോ. സോയിൻ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. കേംബ്രിഡ്ജിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ട്രാൻസ്പ്ലാൻറേഷനിൽ വിജയകരമായ ഗവേഷണം നടത്തി, ഇതിനായി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ 110 ലധികം യഥാർത്ഥ ഗവേഷണ പ്രബന്ധങ്ങളും പുസ്തക സംഭാവനകളും അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര, ദേശീയ ജേണലുകളിലും പുസ്തകങ്ങളിലും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു.
