ഇന്ത്യയിൽ, കർണാടകയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ജയിലാണ് പരപ്പന അഗ്രഹാര സെൻട്രൽ ജയിൽ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന സെൻട്രൽ ജയിൽ, ബാംഗ്ലൂർ.[1] 1997 ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ഇത്, പഴയ ജയിൽ (ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ഫ്രീഡം പാർക്ക് ) നവീകരണത്തിനായി അടച്ചതോടെ, 2000 ൽ ബാംഗ്ലൂരിലെ സെൻട്രൽ ജയിലായി.[2][3]
40 ഏക്കറിലായി വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന ജയിലിൽ നാലായിരത്തിൽ അധികം തടവുകാരുണ്ട്.[4]
