1986 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 2-ന് മൊണ്ടാനയിലെ കാലിസ്പെൽ എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലാണ് ലില്ലി ജനിച്ചത്. [3][4] പിതാവ് പീഗൻ ബ്ലാക്ക്ഫീറ്റ്, നെസ് പെർസെ എന്നീ തദ്ദേശീയ അമേരിക്കൻ വംശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ളയാളും മാതാവ് യൂറോപ്യനും ആണ്. [5][6]

അഞ്ചാം വയസ്സിൽ റിട്ടേൺ ഓഫ് ദി ജെഡൈ എന്ന ചിത്രം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അതിലെ ഇവോക് എന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹമാണ് ലില്ലിയെ ഒരു നടിയാകാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്.
