നൈജീരിയയുടെ മുന്‍തലസ്ഥാനവും രാജ്യത്തെ സാമ്പത്തിക സിരാകേന്ദ്രവുമാണ്‌ ലാഗോസ് അഥവാ ലെഗോസ്. 2006ലെ സെന്‍സസ് പ്രകാരം 7,937,932 പേര്‍ വസിക്കുന്ന ലാഗോസ് നൈജീരിയയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ജനവാസമുള്ള മഹാനഗരപ്രദേശമാണ്‌.^[2] മാത്രവുമല്ല ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഏറ്റവും ജനവാസമുള്ള നഗരവും ഏറ്റവുമധികം വളര്‍ച്ചാനിരക്കുള്ള രണ്ടാമത്തെ നഗരവും ലോകത്തിലേയ്ക്കും‍വച്ച് ഏറ്റവുമധികം വളര്‍ച്ചാനിരക്കുള്ള ഏഴാമത്തെ നഗരവുമാണിത്.^[3]
