പത്താം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ രൂപം കൊണ്ട ഒരു ഇസ്‌ലാമിക ദൈവശാസ്ത്ര സരണിയാണ് മാതുരീദി ദൈവശാസ്ത്രം[1] (അറബി: الماتريدية‬). മാതുരീദിയ്യ, മാതുരീദിസം എന്നെല്ലാം ഇത് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. അബൂമൻസൂർ അൽ മാതുരീദിയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സ്ഥാപകൻ[1][2][3][4].

അഫ്ഗാനിലെ ബൽഖ്, മദ്ധ്യേഷ്യ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ ഹനഫി ചിന്താധാരയിലെ പണ്ഡിതരുടെ ചിന്തകളെ ക്രോഡീകരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അബൂമൻസൂർ അൽ മാതുരീദി[5]. ഇതോടെ വ്യവസ്ഥാപിതമായ ഒരു ചിന്താരീതിയായി മാറിയ മാതുരീദിസം[6][7], വിശുദ്ധഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ വ്യാഖ്യാനത്തിൽ യുക്തിഭദ്രമായ വിശദീകരണങ്ങൾക്ക് ഊന്നൽ നൽകി[2][5][6][8][9][10]

അഥരി, അശ്അരി എന്നിവക്കൊപ്പം യാഥാസ്ഥിതിക സുന്നി വിശ്വാസധാരയായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന മാതുരീദിസം, ഹനഫി കർമ്മശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്തിവരുന്നു[1][11][12][5][13].

മധ്യേഷ്യയിലെ ട്രാൻസോക്‌സാനിയ എന്ന പ്രദേശത്തായിരുന്നു മാതുരീദിസം രൂപപ്പെട്ടതെങ്കിലും [1]{[3][11] [14] [12] പതിനാറാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ സഫാവിദ് സാമ്രാജ്യം പേർഷ്യൻ ഭരണം തുടങ്ങുന്നത് വരെ അവിടെയുള്ള സുന്നി മുസ്‌ലിംകൾക്കിടയിൽ സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഓട്ടോമൻ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിലും മുഗൾ ഇന്ത്യയിലും മാതുരീദിസം ഒരു പ്രധാന പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചു[1][11][14][12]. ഇതിന് പുറമെ മിക്ക തുർക്കി ഗോത്രങ്ങളും, ഹുയി ജനങ്ങളും, മധ്യേഷ്യൻ, ദക്ഷിണേഷ്യൻ മുസ്‌ലിംകളും മാതുരിദി ദൈവശാസ്ത്രം പിന്തുടരുന്നു[14]. അറബ് മേഖലയിലും മാതുരിദി പണ്ഡിതന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്.
