ഇന്ത്യൻ സംസ്ഥാനമായ മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെയും ഗുജറാത്തിലെയും തീരപ്രദേശത്തേക്ക് നീങ്ങിയ ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റാണ് നിസർഗ.[1] ഇരുപത്തിയൊന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ ബംഗാൾ ഉൾക്കടലിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ആദ്യത്തെ സൂപ്പർ സൈക്ലോണിക് കൊടുങ്കാറ്റായ ഉംപുൻ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിനുശേഷം 2020 ലെ ഉത്തരേന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്ര ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റ് സീസണിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റാണ് ഇത്.[2][3] 1891 ന് ശേഷം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള നഗരങ്ങളിലൊന്നായ മുംബൈയെ ബാധിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ കൊടുങ്കാറ്റാണ് നിസർഗ.[4]
