1858-1859 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ കോൺവാൾ സെന്റ് ഇവ്സ് ബേയിലെ ഗോദ്റെവി ദ്വീപിലാണ് ഗോദ്റെവി ലൈറ്റ്ഹൗസ് നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. ഗോദ്റെവി ഹെഡിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 300 മീറ്റർ (980 അടി) അകലെ ഒരു പാറക്കൂട്ടത്തിലാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി കപ്പലുകൾക്ക് അപകടമുണ്ടാകുന്ന ഒരു സ്ഥലമായിരുന്നു ഇത്.
ചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]
പാറക്കൂട്ടം പല കപ്പലുകളുടെയും നാശത്തിനു കാരണമായി. പക്ഷേ ആവശ്യപ്പെടാതെ ഒരു വിളക്കുമാടം നിർമ്മിക്കാൻ 1854 നവംബർ 30 ന് ആഞ്ഞടിച്ച കൊടുങ്കാറ്റ് അയേൺ സ്ക്രൂ സ്റ്റീമെർ എസ്.എസ്സ് നൈൽ തകർക്കുന്നതുവരെ പദ്ധതിയുമായി ആരും മുന്നോട്ടുവന്നില്ല. ആകെ 40 പേരുണ്ടായിരുന്ന യാത്രക്കാരും സംഘവും ആ അപകടത്തിൽ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു.[1]
