സെന്റേർസ് ഫോർ ഡിസീസ് കൺട്രോൾ ആൻഡ് പ്രിവൻഷൻ (CDC അഥവാ U.S. CDC) അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ ദേശീയ പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യ ഏജൻസിയാണ്. ഡിപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റ് ഓഫ് ഹെൽത്ത് ആന്റ് ഹ്യൂമൻ സരി‍വ്വീസസിനു[2] കീഴിൽ, ഒരു യു.എസ്. ഫെഡറൽ ഏജൻസിയായ ഇതിന്റെ ആസ്ഥാനം ജോർജിയയിലെ അറ്റ്ലാന്റയാണ്.[3]
അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലും ലോകത്താകമാനവും അസുഖം, പരിക്ക്, വൈകല്യം എന്നിവ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുക, തടയുക എന്നീ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലൂടെ പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യവും സുരക്ഷയും സംരക്ഷിക്കുകയെന്നതാണ് ഈ ഏജൻസിയുടെ സുപ്രധാന ലക്ഷ്യം.[4] രോഗ നിയന്ത്രണവും പ്രതിരോധവും വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിലും പ്രയോഗിക്കുന്നതിലും സിഡിസി ദേശീയ ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നു. പകർച്ചവ്യാധി, ഭക്ഷ്യജന്യ രോഗകാരികൾ, പാരിസ്ഥിതിക ആരോഗ്യം, തൊഴിൽ സുരക്ഷയും ആരോഗ്യവും, ആരോഗ്യ പുഷ്ടി, ക്ഷത നിവാരണം, യു.എസ്. പൗരന്മാരുടെ ആരോഗ്യം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്ത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയിൽ ഇത് പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഗവേഷണം നടത്തുന്നതോടൊപ്പം അമിതവണ്ണം, പ്രമേഹം തുടങ്ങിയ പകർച്ചവ്യാധികളല്ലാത്ത രോഗങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിവരങ്ങളും നൽകുന്ന സിഡിസി ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ അസോസിയേഷൻ ഓഫ് നാഷണൽ പബ്ലിക് ഹെൽത്ത് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടുകളുടെ സ്ഥാപകാഗവുംകൂടിയാണ്.[5]
