റോബർട്ട് കെർ
സ്കോട്-ലാന്റുകാരനായ ഒരു സർജനും ശാസ്ത്രവിഷയങ്ങളിലെ എഴുത്തുകാരനും വിവർത്തകനും ആയിരുന്നു ഡോ. റോബർട്ട് കെർ (Dr Robert Kerr FRSE FSA FRCSE) (20 ഒക്ടോബർ 1757 – 11 ഒക്ടോബർ 1813).

1757 -ൽ റോക്സ്ബർഗ്‌ഷെയറിലെ ബുഗ്‌ട്രിഡ്‌ജിൽ 1747-54 കാലത്ത് ഏഡിൻബർഗിലെ പാലമെന്റ് അംഗമായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ച ഒരു ആഭരണനിർമ്മാതാവായ ജെയിംസ് കെറിന്റെ മകനായാണ് റോബർട്ട് ജനിച്ചത്.[1][2] എഡിൻബർഗിൽ ആണ് അദ്ദേഹം സ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നടത്തിയത്.
എഡിൻബർഗ് സർവ്വകലാശാലയിലെ വൈദ്യവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനുശേഷം അവിടത്തെ ഫൗണ്ട്‌ലിംഗ് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം സർജൻ ആയി ജോലി ചെയ്തു. 1788 -ൽ അദ്ദേഹം എഡിൻബർഗ് റോയൽ സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഫെല്ലോ ആയി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു..[3]
പലശാസ്ത്രകൃതികളും അദ്ദേഹം ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലേക്ക് മൊഴിമാറ്റം നടത്തി. അതിൽ ലാവോസിയേയുടെ 1789 -ലെ Traité Élémentaire de Chimie എന്ന കൃതിElements of Chemistry in a New Systematic Order containing All the Modern Discoveries എന്ന പേരിൽ 1790 -ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചതും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[4] 1792 -ൽ അദ്ദേഹം The Animal Kingdom, എന്നപേരിൽ ലിനയേസിന്റെ Systema Naturae, എന്ന കൃതിയുടെ ആദ്യ രണ്ടുവാല്യങ്ങളും പുറത്തിറക്കി. ധാരാളം സ്പീഷിസുകളുടെ നാമകരണപദ്ധതിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥമാണ്.
