ബൽജിയൻ ചരിത്രകാരനും നരവംശശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനുമാണ് യാൻ വാൻസിന ( ജ:14സെപ്റ്റം:1929).ആഫ്രിക്കൻ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ആഴത്തിലുള്ള പഠനങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയിട്ടുള്ള വാൻസിന മദ്ധ്യ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ജനപദങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ആധികാരിക വിവരങ്ങൾ നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.വിസ്കോൺസിൻ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച പഠനങ്ങൾക്കും പരിശീലനങ്ങൾക്കും അദ്ദേഹം നേതൃത്വം നൽകുകയുണ്ടായി. 1950 മുതൽ 1990 വരെ നടന്ന പഠനങ്ങൾ ഈ രംഗത്ത് ത്വരിതമായ ഒരു മുന്നേറ്റത്തിനു കാരണമായിട്ടുണ്ട്.ലൂവെനിലുള്ള കാതലിക് സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്നു ഗവേഷണബിരുദം നേടിയ യാൻസിന വിസ്കോൺസിൻ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ അദ്ധ്യാപകനായി പ്രവർത്തിയ്ക്കുന്നു.
