യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ്സിന്റെ തെക്ക് കിഴക്കന്‍ പ്രദേശത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു സംസ്ഥാനമാണ് ടെന്നസി. 1796-ല്‍ 16-ആം സംസ്ഥാനമായി യൂണിയന്റെ ഭാഗമായി. 2008 കനേഷുമാരി അനുസരിച്ച് ഇവിടുത്തെ ജനസംഖ്യ 6,214,888 ആണ്. 2000-ത്തിനുശേഷം ജനസംഖ്യയില്‍ 9.5% വളര്‍ച്ച ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്. നാഷ്‌വില്‍ ആണ് തലസ്ഥാനം. ഏറ്റവും വലിയ രണ്ടാമത്തെ നഗരവും കൂടിയായ ഇവിടുത്തെ ജനസംഖ്യ 626,144 ആണ്. 670,902 ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള മെംഫിസാണ് ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരം.
