കാറ്റിന്റെ ഗതിവേഗം അളക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഉപകരണമാണ് അനീമോമീറ്റർ.
പ്രവർത്തനരീതി
പലതരത്തിലുള്ള അനീമോമീറ്ററുകൾ പ്രചാരത്തിലുണ്ട്. കപ്പ് അനീമോമീറ്ററുകൾ (cup anemometers) ആണ് കൂടുതൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. അർധഗോളാകൃതിയിലുള്ള മൂന്നോ നാലോ കപ്പുകൾ ഒരു ചക്രത്തിന്റെ പരിധിയിൽ ഘടിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. കപ്പുകളുടെ ഉൾവശത്ത് കാറ്റു പിടിക്കുമ്പോൾ ചക്രം തിരിയുന്നു. ഒരു നിശ്ചിത സമയത്തിനുള്ളിൽ ചക്രം എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം തിരിയുന്നു എന്നത് കാറ്റിന്റെ വേഗത്തെ ആശ്രയിച്ചിരിക്കും. യാന്ത്രികമായോ വൈദ്യുതി ഉപയോഗിച്ചോ ചക്രത്തിന്റെ ഭ്രമണവും തദ്വാരാ കാറ്റിന്റെ വേഗവും സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ ചക്രവുമായി ഘടിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കും.[1]
പ്ളേറ്റ് അനീമോമീറ്ററുകൾ (plate anemometers) വളരെ ലളിതമാണ്. ഇതിൽ വായുവിന്റെ പ്രവേശനംമൂലം, കുത്തനെ നാട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്ളേറ്റ് കാറ്റിന്റെ ദിശയിലേക്കു വ്യതിചലിക്കുന്നു. പ്ളേറ്റിനോട് ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു സൂചനിയും സ്കെയിലും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ഈ വ്യതിയാനം അളക്കുകയും കാറ്റിന്റെ വേഗം എത്രയെന്നു കാണുകയും ചെയ്യാം. സ്വയം ലേഖനക്ഷമമായതാണ് അനീമോഗ്രാഫ്. ബെർണൊലിതത്ത്വത്തെ(Bernoulli's Principle) ആശ്രയിച്ചാണ് പ്രെഷർ ട്യൂബ് അനീമോമീറ്റർ (pressure tube anemometer) പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ ഉപകരണത്തിൽ കാറ്റിന്റെ വേഗമനുസരിച്ച് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന മർദവ്യത്യാസമാണ് അളക്കുന്നത്. വിമാനങ്ങളിൽ സാധാരണയായി ഇതുപയോഗിച്ചുവരുന്നു.
