അലാസ്കായിലെ നഗരങ്ങൾ
അലാസ്ക യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റിലെ നാല്പത്തിയൊമ്പതാമത്തെ സംസ്ഥാനമായി നിലവിൽ വരുന്നത് 1959 ജനുവരി മൂന്നാം തീയതിയാണ്. 1867 വരെ അലാസ്ക റഷ്യയുടെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നു. ആ വർഷം, 72 ലക്ഷം ഡോളർ വിലയ്ക്ക് അമേരിക്ക റഷ്യയിൽനിന്നും അലാസ്ക്ക വാങ്ങുകയാണുണ്ടായത്. 1959-ൽ സംസ്ഥാനപദവി ലഭിക്കുംവരെ ഇത് ഒരു കേന്ദ്രഭരണപ്രദേശമായിരുന്നു. 2010 ലെ യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ് സെൻസസ് അനുസരിച്ച് 570,640.95 സ്ക്വയർ മൈൽ (1,477,953.3 km2) വിസ്തീർണ്ണമുള്ള അലാസ്കയിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ വെറും 710,231 മാത്രമാണ്. ഏറ്റവും കുറഞ്ഞ ജനസംഘ്യയുള്ള അമേരിക്കയിലെ നാലാമത്തെ യു.എസ്. സംസ്ഥാനം കൂടിയാണ് അലാസ്ക. 2014 ഒക്ടോബറിലെ കണക്കനുസിരിച്ച് സംയോജിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട 148 നഗരങ്ങൾ, സ്വയം ഭരണാധികാരമുള്ള 4 മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റികൾ (ഈ വലിയ 4 മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റികളെ boroughs എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു), 19 ഒന്നാംതരം പട്ടണങ്ങൾ, 115 രണ്ടാം തരം പട്ടണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ അലാസ്കയിലുണ്ട്. 2010 ലെ കണക്കുകളനുസരിച്ച് മൊത്തം ഭൂവിഭാഗത്തിൻറെ 2.1 ശതമാനം മാത്രമാണ് ഏകീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ നഗരങ്ങൾ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നത്, പക്ഷേ ജനസംഘ്യയുടെ 69.92 ശതമാനം ഈ 2.1 ശതമാനം ഭാഗത്തു ജീവിക്കുന്നു. ഏകീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട നാലു മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റികളിൽ ഓരോന്നും 1,700 സ്ക്വയർ മൈല് (4,400 km2) വലിപ്പമുള്ളവയാണ്. മററു രണ്ടു ഇടത്തരം നഗരങ്ങൾക്ക് 100 സ്ക്വയർ മൈൽ (260 km2) വിസ്തീർണ്ണമുണ്ട്. ഇവയിൽ ഉനലാസ്ക (Unalaska) എന്ന നഗരം ഡച്ച് തുറമുഖം കൂടി ഉൾപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. വാൽഡെസ് (Valdez) നഗരം ട്രാൻസ്-അലാസ്കൻ പൈപ്പ് ലൈൻ സിസ്റ്റത്തിൻറെ അതിരുവരെ വ്യാപിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നു. വലിയ 4 കോർപ്പറേഷനുകൾക്കും സ്വയം ഭരണാധികാരമുണ്ട്.
