ഉത്തരാർദ്ധഗോളത്തിൽ പൊതുവേ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരിനം മരമാണ് ബർച്ച് . ആംഗലേയത്തിൽ ഇത് Birch എന്നും സംസ്കൃതത്തിൽ ഇത് भुर्ज എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.Betula എന്ന ജനുസ്സിലെ മരങ്ങളെയാണ് ഇങ്ങനെ പരാമർശിക്കുന്നത്.
ഇത് ഒരു ഇലപൊഴിയും മരമാണ്. ഈടുള്ള തടിയാണ് ഈ മരത്തിന്. ഇതിന്റെ ശാഖകളിൽ കണ്ണുകൾ പോലെയുള്ള അടയാളം കാണാം. [2]
