കരീബിയൻ കടലിലെ ഒരു ദ്വീപ് രാജ്യമാണ് സെയ്ന്റ് ലൂസിയ. ലെസ്സർ ആന്റിലെസിന്റെ ഭാഗമായ ഇത് സെയ്ന്റ് വിൻസന്റ് ഗ്രനഡീൻ‍സിന്റെ വടക്കും, ബർബാഡോസ്, തെക്കൻ മാർട്ടിനിക് എന്നിവയുടെ തെക്ക്-പടിഞ്ഞാറുമായാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. വിന്റ്വാർഡ് ദ്വീപുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്. സിറാക്കൂസിലെ വിശുദ്ധ ലൂസിയുടെ സമരണാർത്ഥമാണ് ഈ രാജ്യം സെയ്ന്റ് ലൂസിയ എന്ന് നാമകരണം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടത്. 1500-ലാണ് യൂറോപ്യന്മാർ ആദ്യമായി ഇവിടെ കാലുകുത്തിയത്. 1660-ൽ ഇവിടുത്തെ നിവാസികളായ കരീബുകളുമായി ഫ്രാൻസ് ഒരു കരാറിലേർപ്പെടുകയും രാജ്യത്തെ വിജയകരമായി കോളനിവൽക്കരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1663 മുതൽ 1667 വരെ അധികാരം ബ്രിട്ടൻ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. പിന്നീട് ഈ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ ബ്രിട്ടണും ഫ്രാൻസും തമ്മിൽ 14 തവണ യുദ്ധം നടക്കുകയും 1814-ൽ ബ്രിട്ടൻ പൂർണമായും അധികാരം കയ്യടക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1924-ൽ പ്രതിനിധി സർക്കാർ രൂപംകൊണ്ടു. 1958 മുതൽ 1962 വരെ ഫെഡറേഷൻ ഓഫ് വെസ്റ്റ് ഇൻഡീസിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നു. ഒടുവിൽ, 1979 ഫെബ്രുവരി 22-ന് സെയ്ന്റ് ലൂസിയ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം നേടി.
